TRAVEL ACCOUNTS & CARD SERVICES
We strongly recommend members have a designated travel account separate from their usual bank account. Kiwi Travel Club are not bankers or card service providers but as part of our services we assist members to set up and apply for our recommended banking and card services that help you achieve your travel plans.
- Kiwi Bank Travel Account: While you can have your travel account with another bank, we recommend you consider using Kiwi Bank for your travel funds. No account fees are payable (The exception being teller assisted deposits). Your travel account funds are fully protected, and Kiwi Travel Club cannot access your account and any debits made to pay for travel services require your authorisation. The Government has indicated it will shortly introduce a bank guarantee scheme on deposits of up to $100,000 which will provide additional protection.
- Backup or Additional Credit Card: We recommend members have several backup payment options in case things go wrong while travelling. The Kiwi Bank Zero Credit-Card has no annual fees which means the card can be used at no cost as a backup card or additional card. If you do decide to use your credit card to pay some of your travel costs from your Zero Card it offers one of the lowest card interest rates in New Zealand
- Global Prepaid Travel Card: This completes the trifecta of Kiwi Travel Club recommended account and card services. It provides members with an easy way to access their travel funds in several currencies including New Zealand dollars.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
All banks and many financial institutions are required by Anti Money Laundering Laws (AML) to identify anyone opening a bank account or credit card. This applies even if you already have accounts with that bank or institution and it is not something Kiwi Travel Club can do for you.
When you join or upgrade to a Gold Membership we send additional information on the recommended accounts, identification requirements and a step-by-step opening guide. We even provide contacts should you have any problems. Plus, once you have successfully completed the process, we reward you with bonus club credits as a welcome gesture.
