ROUTE 66 MOTORHOME TOUR
CHICAGO TO LAS VEGAS
Day 1 – 3 Chicago IL
The tour price includes 3-nights’ accommodation at a central city Chicago hotel.
Flights from New Zealand arrive at Chicago International airport (ORD) located approximately 20 miles from the city. Shared shuttles and taxis depart from the airport intermodal facility. Your tour notes include a list of transfer suggestions and Chicago attractions.

Day 4 – Joliet IL
MOTORHOME PICKUP
Your motorhome will be ready for pickup after 1:00 pm. The rental depot is located at Glen Ellyn approximately 30 miles from the central city. The depot staff will provide instructions on motorhome use and features. Our RV Park is at Joliet, a 50-minute drive on the freeway from the rental depot. Enjoy a meal with your fellow travelers at the adjacent casino.
Day 5 – Springfield IL
Parts of today’s travel is on Old Route 66
Visit Pontiac Illinois – for the Route 66 Museum and Classic cars.
Atlanta Illinois – enjoy a slice of fruit pie at Palms Café. Highly recommended by Billy Connolly
Springfield IL – For a look back at USA history visit the Abraham Lincoln Museum and library.
Day 6 – 7 St Louis MO
The Gateway Arch – it is the world’s tallest arch, a 190-metre monument in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Take a tram ride to the top. Visit the museum and trace stories of Native Americans, explorers, pioneers, and rebels who made America possible.
Day 8 Springfield MO
Meramec Caverns – Discover a 4.6-mile cavern system in the Ozarks, near Stanton, Missouri. The caverns were formed from the erosion of large limestone deposits over millions of years.
World’s Largest Rocking Chair – Located on old Route 66 – Has a great gift shop.
Day 9 Clarmore OK
Will Rogers Centre Claremore – a 19,052-square-foot museum in Claremore, Oklahoma that celebrates entertainer Will Rogers. The museum houses artifacts, memorabilia, photographs, and manuscripts.
Day 10 – 11 Oklahoma City OK
National Cowboy Hall of Fame – Visit the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum with more than 28,000 Western and American Indian art works and artifacts, allocate 3-6 hours minimum to see everything.
Day 12 Elk City OK
Oklahoma Route 66 Museum Clinton – The museum offers visitors a personal journey through the history of Route 66.
Elk City Old Town – Experience historical small-town USA during your stay in Elk City Oklahoma.
Day 13 Amarillo TX
Big Texan Steakhouse – Dine at The Big Texan in Amarillo get a 72oz steak eat it in under an hour and its free.
Day 14 – 16 Albuquerque
Sandia Peak Tramway. – One of the longest aerial tramways in the world offering spectacular views over the city.
Old Town Albuquerque – located between Mountain Road and Central Ave. A genuine Spanish old town square and an Old Mission Church, shops, and restaurants an interesting place to visit.
Day 17 Holbrook AZ
Old Route 66 Historic Hotel – Discover a unique Southwest Experience during the American West. The El Rancho Hotel is a pillar of the West and was the Home of the Movie Stars throughout the 1930s to 1940s who filmed Westerns in the area.
Petrified Forest National Park – A unique natural wonder located in Northeast Arizona.
Day 18 – 20 Grand Canyon South Rim AZ
Free Shuttle Buses – The campground is located within the National Park, a short distance from the Canyon. Shuttle buses depart from the campground entrance and take you to canyon viewpoints and the visitor centre.
Helicopter flights – Optional tours over the Grand Canyon and experience one of the seven natural wonders of the world from the air.
Day 21 Kingman Arizona
Williams AZ – The last town to be bypassed by the freeway. Has some great gift shops and cafes.
Seligman & Hackberry – Travel old Route 66 through to Kingman with stops at these historic towns along the way.
Day 22- 24 Las Vegas NV
Visit Hoover Dam as you travel through from Kingman.
Free Shuttle Buses – depart from the casino adjacent to the RV park taking you to the Las Vegas Strip and Freemont Street.
Las Vegas Strip – Your tour notes have a recommended walking tour visiting several casinos with free entertainment.
Fremont Street Experience – Head Down Town for bands, street entertainers , zip line, and much more.
World Class Shows – Your tour notes tell you how to buy tickets to the best shows in Vegas, frequently at discounted prices.
Day 22 Return Motorhomes
Your motorhome is due back at the depot before 10:00 am.
