Day 1 – Los Angeles
Airport transfers to your hotel are included.
Day 2 to 4 – Las Vegas
Lunch at Peggy Sues 50’s Diner – All you can eat 1950s-style diner with American classics such as meatloaf & chicken-fried steak on the menu
Fremont Street Experience – Head Downtown for bands, street entertainers, zip line, and much more.

Day 5 – Kingman
The Grand Canyon Skywalk – Optional is a U-shaped cantilever bridge that extends 70 feet out from the rim at Eagle Point. Visit famous Oatman a stretch of the historic Route 66, which was the main highway route across the United States from the 1920s through the 1950s to get to The Village’s Mining Past.
Helicopter flights – Optional tour over the Grand Canyon and experience one of the seven natural wonders of the world from the air and water on this helicopter flight.
Day 6 – Gallup
Old Route 66 Historic Hotel – Discover a unique Southwest Experience during the American West. The El Rancho Hotel is a pillar of the West and was the Home of the Movie Stars throughout the 1930s to 1940s who filmed Westerns in the area.
Day 7 – Albuquerque
Sandia Peak Tramway – It stretches from the northeast edge of the city to Sandia Peak on the ridge line of the Sandia Mountains and has the world’s third longest single span
Day 8 – Amarillo
Big Texan Steakhouse – Dine at The Big Texan in Amarillo get a 72oz steak eat it in under an hour and its free.
Day 9 – Weatherford
Oklahoma Route 66 Museum Clinton – For the ultimate Route 66 experience look at the history, myths, signs, photos & music of the iconic road, plus a diner replica.
Day 10 – Oklahoma City
National Cowboy Hall of Fame – Visit the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum with more than 28,000 Western and American Indian art works and artifacts allocate 3-6 hours minimum to see everything.
Day 11 – Springfield MO
Will Rogers Centre Claremore – a 19,052-square-foot museum in Claremore, Oklahoma that celebrates entertainer Will Rogers. The museum houses artifacts, memorabilia, photographs, and manuscripts relevant to Rogers’ life, and documentaries, speeches, and movies starring Rogers are shown in a theatre
Day 12 & 13 – St Louis
Meramec Caverns – Discover a 4.6-mile cavern system in the Ozarks, near Stanton, Missouri. The caverns were formed from the erosion of large limestone deposits over millions of years.
The Gateway Arch – it is the world’s tallest arch 190-metre monument in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. Take a tram ride to the top. Visit the museum and trace stories of Native Americans, explorers, pioneers, and rebels who made America possible.
Day 14 & 15 – Chicago
Visit Pontiac Illinois – for the route 66 museum and classic cars.

Day 16 – Onward travel

CHICAGO TO LOS ANGELES
If you are joining the group tour departing Auckland 8:15pm on15 September 2023 you can fly direct to Chicago on Air New Zealand arriving just after 6:00 pm the same day. Clear customs and board the Airport transit system which will take you directly to the rental centre to pickup your selected vehicle for your Route 66 adventure.
Day 1 & 2 – Chicago
Overnight at an airport hotel – Following day travel into the city for an included hop-off Chicago city tour day tours. Parking is available at your central city hotel
Take the mobster tour – for a gangland experience

Route 66 Guided Walking Tour – Time for a bit of R & R with a 2-day layover. Get out of the car and experience a guided walking tour of this historic New Mexico city. Who knows you might come across Billy the Kid who spent some time here washing dishes.
Day 11 – Gallup

Onward Flights – Return you rental vehicle late afternoon and take the free shuttle to LAX airport for your flight home.
Extra Days – If you would like to spend more time Los Angeles let us know when you book so we can extend you vehicle rental.
